Whole project consists of two parts (two studies) with the following objectives:
- Impact Assessment of Regional Balancing Integration in the BSTP Electricity Market (Phase I):
The study will improve the capacity of TSOs and regulators to understand the current national mechanisms of system balancing, improve their understanding of potential market based mechanisms for the provision of balancing capacity and energy, and develop a criteria-based decision framework that can be used by TSOs and regulators to evaluate the potential benefits and costs associated with the transition to competitive balancing markets. It is understood that the objectives for this Phase of the study are designed to support the forthcoming Phase II, in which it will be performed calculations on the system operator benefits of transitioning to the provision of balancing services on a sub-regional or regional basis.
- Short Circuit Analysis Model Development:
This study will analyse and describe the necessary parameters that will provide power system over current protection devices, preventing injury of personnel, minimizing damage to system components, and limiting the extent and duration of service interruptions during equipment failures, overloads and short circuit conditions. Thus, the study will develop the first BSTP model that includes both balanced and unbalanced short circuits.
In support of the Short Circuit model and analysis development, a capacity building training will be conducted.
