EKC representative held a presentation at annual PSS®CAPE Users’ Group Meeting
EKC receives an invitation to hold a presentation at this year’s PSS®CAPE Users’ Group Meeting regarding its experience with relay protection coordination analysis in time domain by using both PSS/E and PSS®CAPE software tools in Ypsilanti, Michigan (USA).
Siemens PSS®CAPE software is the world's most powerful set of tools for protection engineering which comes with the largest library of detailed relay models, with over 6000 individual relay, recloser and fuse types, tailored for protection engineers. In the period from 24th till 28th of June 2019 in Ypsilanti, Michigan (USA) annual PSS®CAPE Users’ Group Meeting was held. This year’s Users’ Group Meeting hosted more than 100 engineers from 15 different countries. EKC representative was invited by the meeting organizer and software tool manufacturing company to hold a presentation regarding his experience with relay protection coordination study conducted in time domain by PSS®CAPE-Transient Stability (TS) Link module.
Within protection coordination study, TS Link module is used to connect the power system’s dynamic model developed with PSS/E software tool and relay protection model developed by PSS®CAPE software tool. By using PSS®CAPE-TS Link module EKC was able to conduct a relay protection coordination study in time domain which considered the influence of power system’s dynamic characteristic on relay protection operation, and at the same time the influence of relay protection operation on power system’s transient stability. EKC representative has presented the company’s experience in setting up the TS Link module, running the time domain simulations and interpreting the results through several case studies where relay miscoordinations could only be identified through time domain analysis.
