Ukraine Power System Support Project (UPSSP): Training Workshop on Dynamic Simulation
As part of the Ukraine Power System Support Project (UPSSP) the United States Energy Association (USEA), in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), organized a workshop on using a national PSS/E model of the Ukrainian Power System for dynamic stability analysis upon the NPC Ukenergo request. The five day training course was provided by Electricity Coordination Center (EKC).
The main objective of the workshop was to repopulate the number of Ukrenergo PSS/E users to expedite the process of the Ukraine Power System connection to ENTSO-E. Special attention was paid to dynamic stability analysis within the still ongoing Feasibility Study on Synchronous Interconnection of Ukrainian and Moldovan Power Systems to ENTSO-E Continental Europe Power System (UMPSI).
The training covered the following:
- System Stability and Classification and Devices in Power System
- IEEE Standardized models and User defined models of AVRs
- Loading of dynamic data and initializing of dynamic simulation, fixing problems with initialization
- Standard tests of generator units
- Calculation of Critical Clearing Time (CCT)
- Linear analysis (Calculation of Eigenvalues in PTI PSS/E software)
